If USSR won Afghan war?

1989 was a great year for the Afghanistan government. The Muj basically failed in making any progress, in fact they became irrelevant. Aso guess who was in-charge of the failed Jalalabad battle of 1989:

USSR did win the Afghan war , it militarily trounced the mujahedeen

They lost the peace as muj groups had wealthy powerful backers overseas

Very simply military power does not guarantee a win, but when the enemy is getting support from a Super Power and Saudi Arabias bottomless pockets and of course a border to hide over in the form of the border with Pakistan then there was no winning... all they could do is leave... which they did... and the enemy can call that a win but the Afghan people themselves were the biggest losers and missed out on some development and progress into the 20th century, but their help from Soviet enemies just cost them a real future. Billions of dollars have been spent on Afghanistan... most of the money spent by the Soviets was trying to rebuild and improve the place... the money spent by the west was to kill and murder and destroy, so despite all the money invested into the country it is still in a terrible state with little future prospects things will get better.

America spent a lot more money on Afghanistan and has been there twice as long and they are not winning hearts and minds at all... and that is without any major power supporting their enemy and arming them...

The Soviets were outplayed by the west, but the Americans are losing to the afghans on their own... even with their HATO allies...

But their is a silver-lining, as some celestial-justice is being carried out: 1.) The US Afghan adventure was worse than the USSR's equivalent, 2.) The Pakistani's got their just desserts seeing it spilled in to Pakistan (causing over 600,000 deaths), 3.) The Saudi-Mights (Sodom Arabia) are getting reamed in their very own Afghan quagmire in Yemen!

Reap as yea shall sow... but they will keep talking about how the Soviets were crushed by the Afghans, and ignore their own problems there...
