They do understand and they want exactly that. A population that constantly fights which will give them the false justification to kill all of them.

Sadly the thinking has spread to the west where anyone who doesn't agree with your opinion is a moron, or evil, and just plain wrong because there can be no way that I am wrong.

Sometimes the different points of view are because such things effects one and not the other, or the way you were brought up and things clash with different peoples different values. Or one might have had a different experience, or perhaps have knowledge that changes the general perception of the situation that the other person does not know or is not fully aware of.

Most people don't understand there are cities and modern technology in Africa and Asia and central and south America... in some places like Singapore things are probably better than in some western countries, but then you go to Europe and go off the beaten track to less touristy areas and things can be quite different where the men with check shirts and pitchforks and the women are at home and pregnant... knitting something.

When people are not allowed a different opinion it becomes literally good vs evil because you both can't be right so obviously they must be wrong.
