At least when the strike aircraft fly direct bombing missions from Russia they carry their bombs, this move will increase pressure on the munitions supply chain into Hmeimim which must be already under pressure. Interesting, if true re the Su-25s (4 off) given Turkish supplied MANPADS. Maybe more training for the crews of different aircraft types? The Tu-22M3 must be feeling a bit left out of the action compared to their Su-34 colleagues. Laughing

At least 5 Kaliber-carrying ships/subs in the Med. Good.

Iran should use some ballistic missiles to wipe out the "observation posts" = terrorist hide-outs.

Tunguskas would be better. Can use their 30mm guns against ground targets if neccesary.

Russian military intervention and aid to Syria #13 - Page 40 Empty SU-24's (Fencer) Lost over Syria

    Post  geminif4ucorsair Sun Mar 01, 2020 6:14 pm

Two Su-24's (Fencer) are reported to have been shot down by Turkish air defense system, at the end of February 2020.

    * * Do we know what their serial numbers were (with would indicate level of modernization, upgrades)?

    * * Do we know what Turkish air defense systems were involved? (I-Hawk, Patriot, MANPAD...)

Strange subject to be your first post in about 5 years of being here.

It also really should be in a different thread, like the Russian aid to Syria.

Anyway it they were shot down and if they were RuAF not SyAF then don't you think that, given what happened the last time Turkey shot down a RuAF Su-24, there would have been a howl of angst out of Moscow by now.

I suspect that this thread will just wither and fade into the depths of the site. Or Garry will appear with his axe and put it out of its misery.

    correct question should be

    did it actually happen?

    answer is no.

Edit: So two Syrian Su-24's shot down.  Hmm. Interesting.  And they were not far off the ground either. Turkey fired from within turkish airspace. I guess its safe for Syria to shoot down Turkish jets within Turkish airspace.

My suspicion all along; if true, SyAF.

The reason I wanted the serial numbers, to track origin, etc.

    Thanks!

F-16 from Turkey attached a group of 3 Su-24MK of sirian air forcé
one ran away and was safe, another was hit but could land, the third was shot down, the two pilots safe

The Turks really do have an advantage against the Syrians in the air. But not so much against Russia unless it is a sneak attack
like the one from several years ago.

If Erdo-turd wants to use his air force to help the terrorists, then he is going to start losing a lot of his jets.

Indeed. The Turdish air force has adopted the same cowardly tactic as the Israeli's of firing missiles from your own territory.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – The Russian Navy was photographed on Monday transiting the Bosphorus Strait that links the Black and Mediterranean seas.

According to maritime observer Yoruk Isik, the heavily laden ВМФ Project 775 of the Black Sea Fleet 197th Landing Ship Brigade’s Ropucha class LSTM (tank carrying landing ship) Novocherkassk 142 entered the Mediterranean on Monday to deliver more equipment to the Port of Tartous in western Syria.
